Uniform

Ishikawa Hope International School will not force students to wear uniforms to school for the following reasons. Uniforms can be uncomfortable, especially in hot and cold weather, can be restrictive and prevent students from expressing their individuality, can be expensive and difficult to afford, have not shown to improve attendance, academic preparedness, or exam result.

Uniform on Special Occasions

Children will wear uniforms on special occasions.

IHI students will wear special uniforms at special occasions like graduation ceremony, concerts, community volunteering, and field trips.

Lunch

Word from the Lunch Preparation Team

While keeping costs down by cooking healthy meals, we select safe and nutritious ingredients that help the children to grow physically. The food will provide needed energy for the children. We want to create a vibrant food service team that makes you want to eat again! We strive to create a menu that makes you want to eat again. We offer delicious school lunches filled with love.　

Sports & Activities

IHI is blessed to have a large parking place where children are able to play a variety of sports. During break time and lunch break, children at IHI have played basketball, baseball, pickleball, badminton, and other sports. There is always an adult who will supervise the children playing sports outside.

After school, children have the freedom to go outside or go to the indoor gym to play sports. There are also large city gyms near the school campus for children to play other sports.

For Sports Day, IHI will borrow a large field of an elementary school nearby. Parents and children are able to participate in a variety of games together to build close relationships and learn teamwork. The Sports Day is one of the highlights of the year.

Field Trips

IHI believes in the importance of field trips and activities outside the school to learn about life and how to conduct themselves in public. IHI goes on a variety of field trips for social studies. Children will sometimes travel on the bus and train so they can learn how to use the transit system. Children will visit cultural museums and factories to learn about the culture and heritage of the city. Children will be visiting the aquarium and zoo to interact with animals and learn to value life. Children will also visit different businesses to expand their interest and consider what they want to do in the future.

IHI, as a school seeking to be accredited by CIS/WASC in the future, acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. We are committed to ensuring safeguarding practice that reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance, and compliance with best practice and accrediting organization requirements.

IHI strongly supports the safeguarding practices required by JCIS and firmly believe that all students at IHI have a right to safety and well-being. This right exists in the home, in their daily lives, while at school and while on any school-related activity. All IHI staff have a contractual obligation and duty to defend and uphold this right. These obligations are set forth in the school’s safeguarding policy.

The IHI Safeguarding policy serves to protect students from abuse or neglect and empowers teachers and other adults with a ‘safeguarding code’ that will support them in maintaining healthy and positive student-developmental relationships with students.

IHI always has the emotional and physical safety of the student in mind.

Summer Program

IHI receives international cultural teams from around the world so students can enjoy summer programs, camps, special events, and cultural events. IHI has had guest teachers from Singapore, Thai Land, Hong Kong, Chili, Bangladesh, Canada, the U.S.A, and other countries. Children are able to use the English they are learning at school to communicate with people from around the world.
